Heads up!

You know that saying? The one that says “All good things must come to an end”? Well in this case it’s true. The sale on Dominant Persuasions is ending.

But there is good news! You still have a little time to get your copy of Dominant Persuasions for the sale price of 99 cents. (And forgive me if I sound like a infomercial but it’s totally fitting! I swear!)

This pretty little book ( okay, so it’s 748 pages, lol) is filled with twelve – 12 sexy stories of BDSM goodness. AND it’s only 99cents. And the reviews coming in? Well, they speak for themselves.

Here’s the catch. It won’t be on sale for much longer. So if you want a copy, then now is the time to get it.

Every month, usually within the first few days, I send out my newsletter. It’s been a new project for me and I’ve been learning as I go. As my current subscribers know, in appreciation, I gift one reader who enters the monthly contest a prize.  It’s been a pretty good incentive for getting people to subscribe to and actually open the email when it arrives.

But I’ve wanted to do something for my dedicated (and totally awesome) readers.  It’s because of them, that I am able to do the job that I love. It’s because of their dedication and support that I am able to send out a small monthly gift and hold the occasional contest on facebook or wherever.

So it’s been in the back of my mind that I need to do something special, specifically for those readers. Now that I feel a little bit more comfortable with my newsletter format and my ability to actually send it out on time, I want to do that. I’m still fine-tuning the details but coming in May, I should have the plan straightened out and in place. But it will likely revolve around a “slices of life” or a “window into the daily lives of the Dark Horse Inc. crew”. (I’m looking for a name for it still and am open to suggestions…) And I’ll try to keep it short but interesting and worth your time. If anyone understands the value of time, I assure you I do, lol. I’d pay money for more writing and desk time.

So, in essence there will be two chances for newsletter goodness. If you haven’t signed up yet, then, well, you really should.

Excerpt time!

Doh! Time got away from me again. Imagine that.

I was invited and am honored to be a part of the Dominant Persuasions anthology. The release date is set for March 29th and preorders are live! It’s a wonderful collection of sexy stories in a wide range of BDSM flavors.

My story is titled The Sub That Got Away. Because I’m nice (or mean, depending on who you ask, lol) here’s that excerpt I promised.

Standing in the bedroom of the hotel’s suite, Ember read over the instructions for the second time. A warm, not at all unpleasant, flush stole through her. She’d come this far. She wouldn’t let her fears take this from her.

Her Dom for the night waited in the other room. As she set her tote bag in the corner chair, she pondered the steps that brought her here. On an impulse, she’d given Beth the reins and let her friend do everything except fill out the preferences questionnaire. Her friend insisted that Ember at least do that part herself. A couple of days later Beth emailed her a set of directions from her prospective Dom. She’d looked them over and gave Beth the green light.

He’d instructed her to come to this hotel, this room and go immediately to the bedroom. There she’d find her next set of instructions.

He’d also insisted that they stay anonymous for their encounter.

She agreed. With no thanks to her schedule, she didn’t have the time to invest in a relationship. Not to mention, it wouldn’t be fair to her partner. Still, it didn’t mean she had to spend her nights alone.

Laying on the bed next to a black silk hood was a letter written in neat, bold handwriting. She was to strip down to nothing then put on the provided matching robe and hood.

How she needed this. Her fingers trembled as she unbuttoned her top. Work had been brutal over the past month and a warm bath with even the best book wouldn’t rid her of the oppressive stress. She just needed a few hours to block out the world. A desperate, clawing need to be someone else, even for a short time, threatened to drag her down to her knees.

She removed her bra and freed her breasts. Already they felt heavy, hypersensitive. She slid down her pants, folded them then placed them on the chair with her things. Hooking her fingers in the waistband of her panties, she took a deep breath. She slid them down her legs and bared herself to the empty room. Though the temperature was comfortable—perfect, even—her nipples hardened. The thin silk of the robe whispered over her skin as she pulled it on. The soft material rasped over her beaded nipples and they tingled with excitement when she pulled the robe closed and tied the belt around her waist.

She twisted her long hair into a knot at her nape then pulled the hood over her head, blocking her vision. Dim light came through the soft fabric and the world became a fuzzy, muted place.

Taking the last instruction to heart, she stood facing the foot of the bed with her back to the door and waited. Anticipation made her alert, eager.

Long seconds ticked by.

Please let this be what I need. Hope beat a dangerous rhythm in her chest. Driven to the point of desperation, she didn’t know how she’d stand the disappointment if it didn’t work.

“Good girl.” Sounding quiet, a little rough, and all masculine, he whispered right into her ear. She hadn’t heard his approach and wondered how that could be possible. His warm presence bathed her five foot nine-inch frame. How could someone so large move so quietly?

“Since you followed my directions, we can get to business even faster.” She held her stance and waited. “Turn around, sub.”

Oh, that voice. The decadence hidden behind it alone just might make this worth it.

Preorder now! March 29th will be here before you know it!

Dominant Persuasions Cover Reveal

Sorta.

Thanks to the crazy bitch, Mother Nature, my week has been caraaaazy! So, (this will be NO surprise to my regular followers), I’m running a little fast and scattered this week. So as usual, my updates suffer.

I’m going to keep this short and sweet (or sexy) just to make sure that my readers aren’t left out of the loop.

I have a story in the upcoming, sexy as all get out, anthology titled Dominant Persuasions and I am honored to be included with such a talented group of authors. My contribution is a novella titled, The Sub That Got Away. I’ll be sure to share an excerpt soon!

For now, I have to show off this gorgeous cover! I’m head over heels in love with the way it turned out.

A note on Catching Cara and my writing process

One of my biggest wishes? When I grow up I want to be a plotter.

Huh?

In the writing world there is a common question. Are you a plotter or a panster? It’s this idea that there are two types of writers. A “plotter” is someone who meticulously plans their book from start to finish. They have set wordcount goals for each day or week and a schedule to keep and a precise master plan.

Then according to this common generalization, the yin to the plotter’s yang is the “panster.” A panster is a fly by the seat of their pants writer who throws caution to the wind. He or she sits down and just starts typing. Whatever magic spews forth from their fingers is what you get.

I hate pigeon holes. The whole squeezing a round peg into a square hole? Hates it, I do. We do not live in a black and white world. I preach to my kids nearly daily (or at least it feels that way) that stereotypes are wrong. Keep an open mind and do not make assumptions or snap judgements about people.

The one thing all writers have in common? We’re a curious breed. That’s about the only consistent trait I know of. Many, many of us worship the coffee gods (I do! and the coke and chocolate gods as well!), but not all of us do. Many of us get up at the crack of dawn, chain ourselves to our desks and spend hours banging away at the keys, but not all of us writers are able to do that. Many of us have cats, but not all of us.

We each have our own, individual, way of doing things.

Me? Do I have a point behind all this rambling?

I do. I think most authors are a combination of plotter and pantster, black and white, good and evil. I am about 90 percent panster and 10 percent plotter. I wish I had a magic master plan, but I don’t. Most days I can barely hang on to my kids (it’s a wonder I haven’t forgotten them in some random grocery store or mall…), my sanity and my checkbook (my kids can seriously put away some pizza!). If I’m not working at the evil nightshift job or wrangling my kids, I’m writing or sleeping. Maybe doing a load of laundry. Truly that’s the story of my life, or at least this chapter.

I know the ending of Catching Cara is a bit of a jaw-dropper. I was shocked when I got there AND knew it would get me in trouble. If I changed it or forced it to become something it wasn’t meant to be, I guarantee I’ll regret it later. I refuse to give away spoilers or (because I am mostly a panster) restrict what might or might not happen in book 3 of Dark Horse Inc. When writing Joe and Cara’s story I found that their story leads immediately into Rick and Leigh’s. I had a very hard time separating the two. VERY hard. Because I am 90 percent panster I have NO idea exactly what is going to happen in Rick and Leigh’s book. I have some vague ideas and I know there are things that need to be tied up. I actually have a written list and am keeping track. For all of my seemingly scatterbrained tendencies, I am a fanantical note-taker. But I write in a very fluid world. Often what I think is going to happen, doesn’t. My characters surprise me daily. Example? Joe and Cara’s race scene. I thought for sure I knew what would happen. I KNEW who would win. But I was SO wrong. (Nope, not going to spoil it.)

I have to follow my gut when I write. It’s what guides me through the chaos. It’s become my number one rule.

I will say this about book three. It starts off with a bang. Yes, I have started it. No other character has come at me so strongly as Rick has and that’s a scary thing for me. I pray I can capture a quarter of his emotions on the page. Seriously.

So to wrap up my ginormous ramble! Yes, Rick and Leigh are coming next. No, I do not have a title yet-I’m afraid to commit now when something better might come along later. There are a couple of obvious ideas but who knows? Yes, I plan to write more Dark Horse Inc. books after. Something is lurking for James and Noah but I have NO idea what yet. (Truly it’s a mess in my head…writing straightens the chaos) And there is no telling what may come after that.

Can I ask a little favor of you? No matter your feelings on the books, whether you love or hate them? I value your honest opinions and readers are welcome to share their opinions whether they be positive or negative. Please don’t be a spoiler and ruin them for others. Whether that be here, reviews, Goodreads…wherever. That’s all I ask. Okay. I could use a little patience but I know I left everyone hanging so that one might be a stretch, lol.

*quick side note* – I have a small part in something coming up. My part in it is already done. Has been for a bit now. Rick and Leigh are my sole focus. So don’t panic if you see something else with my name on it. It’s already written and off my desk. (And it’s good! You just might enjoy it too!)

Thank you for going on this ride with me!

Yay!

Allow me to be silly for a moment. Yay! Yay! Yay!

And most important of all – Thank you to my wonderful readers!

You all put Protecting Kate into Amazon’s Top 100 paid list over the weekend! Kate and Trent also made it into iBooks top 100, Nook’s top 10 and Kobo’s top 10! I’m seriously blown away. In Amazon Canada? #26 in Amazon’s top 100.

And again, thank you so much! I have the best readers and you all have given me enough warm and fuzzy happiness to make it though this brutal winter and beyond!

Catching Cara Release Day!

It’s here!

CatchingCara50

I’ve debated back and forth on what kind of post to share today and after a ridiculously busy month I can’t think of anything beyond a great big “Yahooooo! It’s here!”

Excerpt –

“You prick!” A husky, feminine voice came through Joe’s earpiece loud and clear. He watched the front of the lot and the bar’s entrance but didn’t see anyone out of place. Then he saw a familiar male form throw his hands in the air and turn his back on a small woman. The man stomped off toward the parked vehicles and recognition hit him. The tall, pissed off man was James Holloway. So that meant that…

He his attention snapped back to where James had been standing. The spot was empty. He scanned the lot and his attention snagged and focused on the door. A curvy little woman with sexy legs and the finest ass he’d ever seen stepped inside the rowdy bar. The door closed behind her.

He knew those legs. He’d dreamed of having them wrapped around his waist. And that hair? He’d lay odds that it smelled like sunshine and flowers. And there was no way he’d wait fifteen minutes before going in after her.

He’d known she was a friend of Rick’s. The Dark Horse founder had even referred to her as a team member, but he still hadn’t put it all together. He had no doubt that she was an intelligent, capable woman, but he couldn’t picture her as a war-hardened soldier. The Dark Horse crew had been in some nasty situations in Afghanistan.

She was too small.

But she was a nurse, right? Maybe she stayed on base or something and waited for the trauma to come to her? What were they doing putting her in a situation like this?

Talk about a mess. If Rick’s information was correct and someone from Potter County showed, then they’d likely see and recognize him. They’d question his reasons for being at a dive like the Thirsty Beaver, but that couldn’t be helped. He’d think of something.

He checked the time and cursed.  She expected him to wait a full fifteen minutes? No way.

“Joe.” Rick’s voice sounded in his earpiece.

“Yeah. I’m going in.” He reached for the handle of Trent’s truck. He borrowed it because his beast stuck out like a sore thumb, and anyone from the Sheriff’s department would recognize it.

“Wait. She’ll be fine for a few. She can handle herself. Listen. Do you remember the images of Boyd Campbell from Kate’s rescue? Remember what he looks like? He’s lean, rangy looking, with brown hair.” Even through the connection, he heard Rick’s tension.

“Yeah, I do.” He’d never felt such extreme anger for another person from just their picture before. Everyone suspected Boyd had kidnapped Kate and delivered her to Senator Bailey. He’d also framed Trent for murder. When that fell apart, he planted damning evidence in a way that placed all suspicion on Bailey. After all of it, he’d vanished like a cockroach in the light.

“He and Mayhem have a history, and it’s not pretty. Years ago, when she refused his advances, things got ugly. He pinned her against a wall and crushed her throat, injuring her larynx. It’s why her voice sounds the way it does. Afterward, he dropped off the grid.”

She is so tiny. His anger burned hotter, brighter.

He felt his blood pressure rise and a sudden urge to choke Campbell came over him. He gripped the steering wheel and squeezed, reminding himself it wouldn’t be cool to put his fist through Trent’s window. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “What’s wrong with her voice?” It sounded fine to him. The first time he heard it, the low, sexy tone had gone straight to his dick.

“Nothing really, it just never went back to the way it used to be.”

“Is there anything else I need to know?” His hand itched to remove the pistol he’d left behind.

“Don’t go right up to her. Wait five minutes then go in, but sit at the bar and have a beer. Watch her like you’re attracted to her. Think about how the scene will look before you make your move. If you rush in and storm right up to her, it’ll look suspect. You don’t even have to make a move, just provide an extra set of eyes. Watch your back. Noah’s inside, and he’ll tell us if he smells trouble.” Rick sounded resigned, as if trouble were inevitable. Joe prayed that wasn’t the case.

Storm right up to her? He wasn’t that big of an idiot.

A little voice somewhere in the back of his head laughed hysterically.

He sat back to watch the five minutes tick by. Hell, he could do this. He’d give her six.

His fingers fisted on the steering wheel until they turned white.
