The Dark Horse Inc. novella, Winter Deception is here. Detective Jake Bowie and Kelly’s story is available among nine other wintry, sexy, snowy, rescue stories.

I’ll happily admit that the “damsel in distress” trope has always been one of my favorites. Complete with a wintry setting, they are perfect for curling up by a fire, under a Christmas tree, or snuggled up with a loved one!

Snowy Knights contains a total of ten such stories for 99cents.

Winter Deception excerpt~~~

“Okay.” She bit her bottom lip in the same way she had all those years ago when she’d had something to say, but hadn’t been sure where to start.
“Spit it out, Peaches.” His old nickname for her slipped out as if it had been only yesterday since he’d last used it.
“Your house?” She paused, then stammered. “I mean, it’s lovely. It’s amazing that you found one that so closely resembles the one I wanted when we were younger.”
It was just the two of them, like it had been so long ago. No reason between them for bullshit. “I didn’t. I built it.”
He smiled when her mouth parted, but no sound came out.
“Even though I didn’t need much, I watched the real estate listings, kept an eye out for a couple of years, but never saw anything that appealed to me. Then I ran across this property with that little doublewide and the perfect place for your house. I made an offer that same day.”
“You didn’t forget.”
“Forget our dreams? The love we shared? Never, not in a thousand years would I forget that. Why did it take you so long to come home?”
“Momma was sick for the last few years. It took everything I had to both care for her and support the two of us. With no family left, I didn’t have any reason to stay. Arizona might have been her home, but it was never mine.”
Unable to resist the pull any longer, he kissed her. Taking the softness of her lips in his, he reveled in the sweetness of her pleasured sighs. She tightened her hold on his shoulder.
He pulled back, needing to know she was there with him. Damp eyelashes and crystal blue eyes met his. With his thumb, he wiped a tear from her cheek. “What’s wrong?”
“I missed you so much. I dreamed, but never truly believed, you’d be here waiting for me. I thought that, like my house, it was childish of me to hope.”
“We might have been young, but what we had—have—is real. Please say you’ll stay until we figure this out. Don’t leave me again.”
“Never. I’m right where I want to be.” Damn, her heart was right there in her eyes for him to see. She stole his breath.
Then she stole his mouth. Tentative and exploring for a moment, quickly their kiss morphed into something hotter, far more desperate. She inched closer, tangling her legs with his. Her fingertips grazed the back of his neck, making him groan. If he wasn’t careful, this little minx would get the better of him.
