IT’S EVERYWHERE because I’m still up to my eyeballs in post-conference swag disorganization and my latest release, Sunlight’s Kiss is now available just about everywhere – Bookstrand, Amazon and Barnes and Noble. So, now that it’s available for virtually everyone with an e-reader I thought it would be a good time to hold a giveaway.

Sunlight’s Kiss is the second book in my Demon Runners of Unearth series. It’s filled with mythology, smexy-times, demons, little creatures that go bump in the night and…the one thing I think all romance readers want…a happily-ever-after.

To celebrate I’m giving away one grand prize and three first prizes. For the Grand prize I’m gifting a multi-author signed canvas tote from Lori Foster’s Reader Author Get Together, swag and a 25$ gift card to the ebook retailer of the winner’s choice. For the three first prizes I’m gifting a small goody bag and flashlight pen. I’ll add a list of signatures on the canvas tote at the end of the post.

When a man of ice meets a lady of Light…

Like a common criminal, the good girl librarian is thrust into the harsh realm of Limbo with nothing more than the clothes on her back. Alone with no knowledge of why she’s been banished, Calysta has nowhere to go and no one to turn to. She wants nothing more than answers and peace until a gruff, sexy as sin, male gives her a taste of the real world.

Cyril, loner and demon hunter, is sent to track and detain an unknown misfit. Filled with suspicion, the last thing he expects to find is an amber-eyed beauty tattered and unconscious. There’s no denying when he discovers her true nature that she sparks a desire like he’s never known. And how much trouble could one sweet, sexy librarian cause?

When danger haunts Calysta, Cyril will stop at nothing to keep her safe. But what’ll happen when his only ally is a sworn enemy?

Excerpt-

“I’m fine.”

“No you’re not. You’re wearing a plastic smile. You might as well be pouting. You’re unhappy. Tell me what’s wrong.” He wanted her to tell him so he could fix it. Yep, there was more of that stuff those dreams were made of.

“I am pouting. I’m bored. I’m stressed. I have no idea what’s going on or how long whatever it is will continue. Comfort-wise this island is a million steps above Limbo. I have excellent company and every luxury I could ask for. You’ve shown me pleasures I’d given up hope of ever experiencing. I have everything except answers. I’m still in Limbo.”

“If you could go anywhere or do anything right now, what would you do?” He came to stand at her back and trailed a fingertip up the curve of her upper arm. A soft nuzzle brushed the back of her ear. His efforts at soothing her weren’t working.

She let out a broken laugh. “I’d love nothing more than to simply experience life. As long as I can remember I’ve been the good girl and done nothing except what I’ve been told. And now that I’m away from home, I can’t enjoy it.

“I’m sorry. You don’t deserve this. You’ve done nothing but go out of your way to take care of me. You’ve tried to make this bearable and all I’ve done is complain and dump on you. You must be tired of it, of me, by now.” A perfectly balmy breezed blew a strand of hair into her face. She tucked it behind her ear when really she felt like taking handfuls of the stuff and yanking it out.

“No. You’re wrong, very wrong. This is the easiest and most pleasurable job I’ve ever had.” He kissed the curve of her shoulder, but that didn’t take the sting out of his words. She tried to make herself thankful that he’d said it. She needed another reminder that’s all she was to him, a job. She wasn’t much more than one of the rogues he tracked. Sure, she was prettier, but that was the only thing she had going for her. She couldn’t let herself forget what she was.

She pulled away and paced. He followed and waited where the path met the sand.

“That’s my point exactly. I’m nothing but a burden or a job or a troublemaker. I just want to be me!” She turned and flung her hand. Equal parts pain and pleasure began in her heart, swelled, and raced through her shoulder and down her arm. Amber light shot from her palm and struck the base of a palm tree. With a thunderous boom, the base exploded into a storm of splinters. Frozen by shock, she stood and stared as the top half came crashing down directly over Cyril’s head.

“No!” In a panic, she put both hands out in a stopping motion. The tree’s remains stopped midair.

Cyril seemed as stunned as she felt. He just stood there, staring.

“Move!” Dear gods make him move. She didn’t know what she was doing. She hadn’t known she could levitate objects, let alone how long she could hold something so big. She’d die if she hurt Cyril.

Cyril blinked, shook his head as if clearing a haze from his mind, and then disappeared. Then he stood directly behind her, with his front touching her back. She was so rattled her teeth chattered and not even the reassuring warmth of his touch settled her.

“It’s okay. You did good. I’m okay. Let’s see if we can set this down”—with a loud crash the tree dropped like a stone on the lounge chairs, smashing them both—“gently.”

With her pulse racing and her muscles quaking, she threw herself into the only safe place she had, his arms. Then she burst into tears.

“What am I?”

“Not what. Who. You are Calysta, you’re my Caly. We’ll get this figured out soon. Okay?” Firm, steady strokes rubbed up and down her back in a soothing rhythm.

“No, I’m your charge, your duty. I’m a task to be marked off your list at the earliest convenience.”

“Bullshit. You are so much more than anyone has ever given you credit for. This is your opportunity to prove it. Baby, you can set the worlds on fire. This is your chance to blow your mother away and show her you are so much more than an obedient little daughter. As for me? I’m not your warden, I’m your slave. I–I’d do anything for you.”

“Then let me go. You said I can’t jump realms with the anklos on, right?”

“Ah. Yeah, I said that b—”

“Then remove it. Let me go.”

“I wish I could, but it’s not safe. I won’t release you to an unknown danger. Something is hunting you.”

“You’ll keep me safe just so I can wither away in a pretty prison? How can I set the worlds on fire in a fucking prison? Please don’t make me beg.” What did it matter? She had no pride. She had nothing that wasn’t given to her. A tight ball of frustration gathered and fisted beneath her sternum.

She flattened her palms on his chest and pushed with all her might and stumbled, almost falling into his lap. What the hell?

He’d landed on his ass in the sand. What was going on? This was Cyril. He was a brick wall. He was an immortal, a Runner for gods’ sake, and she’d knocked him on his ass?

Time to shake things up

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately. I think the biggest reason for the whirlwind in my head is that both my kids are growing so fast. Though they are almost seven years apart in age they’re both hitting big milestones this summer. My oldest is graduating high school and my youngest is moving on to middle school.

No question my world revolves around them, as it should, but our household has been in very blah routine. Don’t get me wrong, it’s worked well for us. The kiddos are both doing well and they’re the best kids ever. They are my everything.

But at this point in their and my life, there’s no reason we have to continue on the merely adequate and blah path we’ve been on. It’s time to shake things up.

No, we can’t do anything totally outlandish. The kids still need their stability but there are ways that we can make changes that might bring a breath of fresh air to our world.

We’ve already made one small change and after a week we couldn’t be happier. Even though the addition means work and increased responsibility, we’re having three times the smiles and laughter.

Meet Bossco

We found him through a local animal rescue. The only thing we know for certain is that his momma is a Beagle and suspect he has some Basset Hound in his makeup. And his little body seems a mile long so there maybe some dachshund in the mix also. We don’t know. We don’t care.

We’re in love. You never know what you’ll find if you shake up your world a bit.

Stay tuned because we’re not finished shaking yet.

Amy’s world update

I apologize for the continued blog slacking. It’s a sad excuse, but also very true that life keeps me so damn busy. Here’s a small update on what’s happening in my world.

Writerly-type stuff… Sunlight’s Kiss, the second book in the Demon Runners of Unearth series has been officially accepted at Siren Publishing and we’re looking at a mid-May release date. I love this little book and can’t wait to share Cyril and Calysta with the world. As for Crave, I’m spending nearly every spare moment I have writing the second book now. I haven’t let anyone read a single word yet but I’m both tremendously excited and nervous about this one. I’m going for hot and sweet and I think it’s turning out well. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Personal – My fingers are doing much better, finally. I know a hand/finger injury doesn’t sound like much but it’s there every time you touch something. As much time as I spend on the computer both as an author and in my real world job it’s been kinda scary. It’s still not a hundred percent healed but at least the pain level has gone way down.

My kids are keeping me busy and so is the rest of the family but that’s just how my world goes. And as long as my messy, chaotic world is rolling along, it’s all good.

He tapped his fingers on the bar, waiting while a shapely bartender filled an order at the bar opposite him. The little human filled out her brown leather pants with some seriously sexy curves. He raised an eyebrow in appreciation as her backside discreetly swayed in time to the music.

When she turned around to face him, he was smacked in the face with an odd sense of familiarity. She stopped dead in her tracks and dropped the bottle of alcohol she’d been carrying. Standing frozen in place as a barely dressed waitress tried to get her attention, she stunned him. The scent of spilt vodka filled the air, and the pounding music paused.

“Boss? Are you okay? Hey? That piece of tall, dark, and handsome over there wants to speak with you.” The waitress tapped her on the shoulder and then walked off shaking her head. The brunette blinked the most stunning green eyes he’d ever seen and seemed to gather her wits as she waved the waitress off. It wasn’t the first time he’d seen a woman struck stupid by his presence. Yet, for a split second, he could have sworn he’d seen a glimmer of recognition in her eyes. But that was impossible.

As a mere human, she wouldn’t have the faintest idea that Death even existed, let alone stood impatiently in her club. She was the most intriguing woman he’d seen in centuries, if not longer. She seemed so very familiar, yet he doubted he would have forgotten a face as striking as hers. It was almost heart shaped with a little pointed chin and a bow-shaped mouth. Chocolate hair, darker than Abaddon’s murky abyss, framed her face and swung down past her shoulders. The tails of a miniscule white blouse were tied tightly just beneath her breasts, drawing his gaze to an enticing display of cleavage. A spark of green light drew his sight lower. A small emerald dangled from her belly button, calling him to press his mouth to the skin just above her low-riding pants.

Yet one alarming detail instantly dried his salivating mouth. Her Kor, the Fates’ signature glyph that should be visible on her forehead, was missing. She looked human, and smelled deliciously human, yet the hallowed symbol he spent his entire life recognizing and adhering to was missing. It made no sense. He spent his entire existence a slave to that symbol, and to find it simply…not there…on a human baffled him beyond belief. Had her fate not yet been determined, even at this late a time in her life? The thought of one day having to steal the breath from this lovely creature’s body made his chest tighten with an oddly uncomfortable feeling. He stomped the alien feelings into submission so he could get to work. He’d never been one to let a pretty face distract him. His vacation waited.

Update Quickie

I have two quickie updates and both are great news. The first piece of news makes me ridiculously happy. Sunlight’s Kiss, the second book in the Demon Runners of Unearth has been scheduled for release sometime near May. This paranormal romance series is close to my heart I love sharing these books. I’m so excited to get Cyril and Calysta’s story out there for everyone to read. Favorite characters from Azrael’s Light make an appearance and you’ll meet some new characters, some yummy and some not-so yummy. I’ll share updates as they come, I promise.

And for the second update- on Monday I’ll be participating in the Kiss Me I’m Irish blog Hop. What better way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day than with great books and prizes? I hope you’ll consider stopping by to check out the fun. I know I’m looking forward to it.

2014 and 2013-The missing year

Well, I figure I’m not alone in this, but I blinked and lost the year 2013. I don’t know what happened to it. It’s like this vague memory that happened 10 years ago and not just yesterday.

I mean things happened and I remember them. I worked at the day (or night) job. I had surgery with good results. I went to RT in Kansas City and Lori Foster’s RAGT. I published 2 books with Siren. And I know I’m forgetting events. Everything flew by in a Star Wars, lightspeed blur. But, overall, it was a good year.

I do have regrets. As always I worry that I didn’t spend enough time with my family. I’m kicking myself for not getting that third book submitted and accepted by the year’s end. Financially, I haven’t made the progress that I’d hoped for.

But overall, I’m not in a bad place. It’s actually a pretty damn decent place where I’m at in life. Yet, there’s more work to do. A crap ton of work to be done. And it’s past time that I put my nose to the grindstone, or in writer-speak, my fingers to the keys and get it done.

In 2014 I hope to, no, no more hoping. I will get four works published and that does not count the one I’m working on now. It was for 2013 and I need to see it finished before I begin on the others. It’s tempting to grab onto a grain of success and hold tight with both hands, but I’m going to stay on course and follow my plan. I just need to pick up my pace. A lot. Like yesterday.

I truly hope everyone has a very happy and excellent New Year in 2014. Me? I’ll be working, but at least it’s a job I love.
